'…The camera should be used for a recording of LIFE, for rendering the very substance and quintessence of the THING ITSELF, whether polished steel or palpitating flesh.'   ~ Edward Weston ~

My intention as a photographer is to look out on life with fresh eyes, available to see and experience the beauty in what simply ‘IS’... in each moment.  Awakening a desire to look and see something I have never seen before.  Something that may have been unnoticed, even though right in front of me.

I am drawn to textures and patterns, light and shadow, gesture and essence.  Relationships and juxtapositions.  I tend to see in metaphor.  Seeing things for both what they are and what they are not. It doesn’t matter what I think about what I see, but rather 'how' I see what it is that I am drawn to.  A place that is emotion and excitement driven…a place where thoughts take a back seat to feelings.

It is what I want for myself.  To continually look out on life with new, beginner, eyes.  To be curious.  To be engaged!  To be excited and amazed!  It is, I believe, what helps us to grow as human beings.

'Photography’s greatest difficulty lies in the necessary coincidence of the sitter’s revealment, the photographer’s realization, the camera’s readiness.' ~ Edward Weston ~
